Sustainable Construction
Buildings are responsible for 40% of energy use in the United States and contribute 136 million tons of construction debris to landfills annually. Breaking Ground Contracting Company has made a passionate commitment to sustainable construction and provides education and consulting on projects seeking LEED certification. Through our monthly LEED Lunch and Learns, we ensure that our specialty and subcontractors are up to speed on new technologies and sustainable procedures so that each member of the construction team is contributing to your green building goals. We have LEED Accredited Professionals on staff to assist with the documentation process and answer questions you or your design team may have on seeking certification. Breaking Ground also incorporates sustainable construction practices into our standard operating procedures by implementing construction pollution prevention plans, waste management procedures ,and construction IAQ Management plans. Whenever possible, we reuse and recycle construction debris, source low- or no-voc paints, adhesives, and sealants, and encourage our specialty and subcontractors to do the same. Having a general contractor that is well-educated and passionate about sustainability is the key to success on LEED projects.
